TMCnet's SIP Trunking Week in Review

Lots happening, as always, in the SIP Trunking space, and TMC (News - Alert) catches you up on the important news from the past week.

TMC’s Rajani Baburajan wrote that XOP Networks, a producer of value added service platforms and audio conference bridges, announced the launch of its Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based multi-application platform.

The new multi-application platform is designed to support voicemail with find-me, audio conferencing, enhanced firebar, switch announcements, mass notification, Web conferencing and video conferencing applications.

“We are very excited to introduce SIP based Universal Service Node platform. Several of our IOC customers deploy separate platforms for each application,” said Sudhir Gupta, CEO of XOP Networks. “With our multi-application USN platform they will be able to deploy multiple applications on one platform, significantly reducing their CapEx and OpEx.”

Phone (News - Alert) companies and independent operating companies are migrating their telephony network from TDM architecture to SIP/VoIP based packet architecture. As TDM based central office switches are being replaced by SIP/VoIP based Soft-switches, existing value added services must be enhanced to keep customer satisfaction.

Also Tammy Wolf noted that the experts in SIP trunking and Unified Communications (News - Alert), Ingate Systems has been a showstopper at TMC’s ITEXPO conferences over the years, and this year’s ITEXPO West 2011 show in Austin, Texas, will be no different.

Recently named as one of the Top 20 Innovators of All Time, Ingate Systems (News - Alert) is the pioneer behind the world’s first SIP-capable firewalls and SIParators, the products that enable unified communications to occur over the Internet. Not only has Ingate Systems partnered with TMC to host a new ITEXPO West seminar series focusing on how unified communications is transforming the 21st century, but it will also take to the exhibit floor in an effort to venture into the Austin market.

And TMC’s Jamie Epstein wrote that it seems as if the IT industry is abuzz with a constant stream of SIP trunking news. As the industry continues to grow, more and more companies of all sizes are transitioning to these services within business operations all over the world. There are many factors for this move, including reduced operating costs and a need to increase productivity.
