GENBAND (News - Alert), a developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, announced that Geneseo Telephone Company, an advanced communications services provider for the greater Geneseo, Ill. area, has selected an integrated network transformation softswitch solution from GENBAND.
The integrated solution combines C15 Compact Softswitch with S3 Session Border Controller (SBC) to provide a single source, end–to-end solution for IP switching, session border control and applications to enhance the service capabilities of Geneseo network.
With GENBAND’s SIP trunking and SIP line access solution, Geneseo is able to offer low-cost international connections to local businesses by providing local North American numbers for out-sourced services from international locations such as India.
“GENBAND’s solution is transformative in several ways as it allows us to significantly decrease the complexity and cost of our network while increasing the international services and Unified Communication features we offer our customers,” said Bill Parr, vice president of Network Operations, Geneseo, in a statement.
With GENBAND’s single source compact softswitch and border control solution that also includes an optical-based media gateway, Geneseo is able to maximize the existing and new infrastructure, Parr added. “We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with GENBAND and appreciate their professional services capabilities and understanding of our network evolution needs.”
With its compact architecture, low power and simple design, GENBAND’s C15 reduces Geneseo’s engineering and installation costs. With features such as core call control, gateway port modules, and operations, administration and maintenance interfaces in a single chassis, the C15 platform delivers an economical solution that scales to support much larger applications as needed, company officials said.
The C15 features an application server platform that enables unified messaging, conferencing and Web server for advanced subscriber feature control and self-care in a redundant pair of 1U chassis. It delivers multi-layered security against a wide variety of Internet threats including flood attacks, DoS/DDoS attacks, and SIP signaling attacks.
Dan Lakey, senior vice president of Sales at GENBAND, said, “We are very pleased to expand our long-term relationship with Geneseo and look forward to enabling the delivery of a host of new services. We understand that network transformation must cost-effectively deliver the most cutting-edge IP capabilities without any disruption of existing features and services.”
Recently GENBAND announced its successful participation in the GSMA (News - Alert) backed MultiService Forum (MSF) Voice over LTE (VoLTE) Interoperability Test Event 2011 with the GENBAND A2 Communications Application Server.
