Covering the SIP trunking space this past week, TMC’s (News - Alert) Carolyn Dawson wrote that InnoMedia (News - Alert) is one of the leading organizations in smart VoIP appliances, and they recently announced that they have been selected by Buckeye TeleSystem for their SIP trunking service for Enterprises. In comparison with other analog phone circuits, these SIP trunks afford the same level of quality but at prices that are lower per circuit. They also can be scaled in increments and in real time bringing down the necessity to put in new lines.
Service providers have the ideal product in InnoMedia ESBC line of enterprise SIP gateways (ESGs) when it comes to the best way to deploy scalable, QoS-managed SIP Trunking as well as Hosted PBX (News - Alert) services to their business clientele. This also includes support for traditional PBXs that have a PRI connection. It is the perfect way of merging SIP Trunking and Data Services with the enterprise customer.
Buckeye TeleSystem uses InnoMedia's ESBC 9328-4B and gives the option of Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA). This is done to provide reliable SIP Trunk services to clients with varying IPPBXs. It also handles SIP ALG for customers who require hosted PBX IPPhone services. There is also a bridge port for high-speed data, RIPv2 for static IP addresses in the router port and also an internal battery for power backup. There is the business friendly primary line VoIP FXS ports to look forward to as well.
Mini Swamy also noted that The Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC), a nonprofit corporation that establishes and endorses standardized benchmarks, has released a new benchmark, SPECsip_Infrastructure2011, to evaluate the performance of Session Initiation Protocol (News
- Alert) servers.
SPECsip_Infrastructure2011, now available on a CD for $800, is expected to be used by developers, testers, performance analysts and purchasing decision-makers.
As the benchmark is based on a proxy server modeling a VoIP deployment, SPEC SIP subcommittee chair Erich Nahum noted that users can benefit from SPECsip_Infrastructure2011 in multiple ways. The primary benefit for users would be the ability to compare the performance of competing SIP servers in a VoIP environment.
These comparisons, he said can be made through results posted on the SPEC website by either running the benchmark as it is or by customizing the benchmark workload so that it is keeping with the local environments.
And also recently, TMC had the news that Toshiba’s (News
- Alert) IPedge IP business telephone system has recently been recognized with a 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award.
IPedge empowers SMB and enterprise users to communicate more effectively, be more cost effective, and have greater access to their customers, partners and each other.
“We are honored to have Toshiba's IPedge win a 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award from INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine,” said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division.
Officials said that IPedge goes beyond most competitors' IP solutions by delivering more applications on a single server, including expanded call processing and voice mail with unified messaging features, unified communications, centralized administration, and the ability for individual users to easily program their own telephones.
