TMCnet SIP Trunking Week in Review


It was a busy week in the SIP Trunking sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.

Wi2Wi, Inc. recently released W2CBW0015, a new, ultra-small SIP-product featuring 802.11b/g/n-WiFi (News - Alert) and Bluetooth-3.0. W2CBW0015 features WiFi-802.11n support up to 150Mbps bit rate over the air with 40 MHz channels, Bluetooth-3.0 support up to 24Mbps bit rate over the air, WiFi-Direct, and Mobile Embedded Hotspot. It includes a power-amplifier, switch, voltage-regulator, EEPROM and crystal, all integrated into a single-chip form SIP.


In addition, Ingate Systems had successful interoperability testing of its SIParator Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC) with Microsoft Exchange Online Unified Messaging. Ingate is a provider of Enterprise Session Border Controllers (E-SBCs) that enable SIP trunking and unified communications outside of the protected enterprise network. The Exchange Online UM is designed to deliver Microsoft Office collaboration and productivity tools in the cloud.

In another story, NTT America, a Tier-1 global IP network services provider, saw an official participate in AHCIET XXX Reunión de Tráfico Internacional. David Berrios, director of business development, Latin America, NTT America, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications (News - Alert), was on a panel called “Innovation: New Trends in Wholesale Services.” During the discussion, Berrios spoke about the emerging telecom industry in Latin America and highlighted the investments NTT America has made in the region to date.

Also, SAP has conducted benchmarks on IBM (News - Alert) systems and storage to measure the scalability of the SAP Convergent Charging application. The company announced the results of these benchmarks. SAP Billing for Telecommunications package constitutes SAP (News - Alert) Convergent Charging and the SAP Convergent Invoicing and SAP Customer Financial Management packages.

And Global PBX/KTS phone system revenue grew 5.5 percent sequentially in 3Q11 to $2.15 billion, reversing the sequential declines from the first two quarters of the year, according to market analyst firm Infonetics Research. The PBX market is up 6.6 percent compared to same quarter last year. VoIP vendor Avaya is the biggest player in this sector, and Cisco (News - Alert) is close behind, increasing its revenue in the third quarter.
