TMCnet's SIP Trunking Week in Review

Looking at the first week of SIP Trunking news for 2012, TMC’s (News - Alert) Carolyn J. Dawson reported that inbound SIP DIDs were added by PowerNet Global to their call center suite. The company’s outbound calling solution, NetDialer, will be complemented by Inbound SIP DIDs.

PowerNet Global's call center offering has been completed with the Inbound SIP DIDs service. An inbound calling solution is provided to customers that will allow end users to return their phone call. NetDialer subscribers, as well as non-call center customers, will be able to use this service. Numbers are available very quickly as the service utilizes SIP technology.

A range of telephone numbers are provided by the DID or Direct Inward Dialing service. These numbers can be used to call into a company's private branch exchange or PBX (News - Alert) system. The need for a live receptionist to route calls is therefore eliminated. A company can offer its customers individual phone numbers for each person or department within the company by using Inbound SIP DIDs.

A physical line into the PBX for each possible connection is not required. The incoming call flow can be segregated and managed in an efficient manner as a different line is associated to a particular group of numbers.

Also, Anshu Shrivastava wrote that Nationwide Telecom said that its SIP Trunking services simplify the overall network, reduces cost and boosts communications with minimal investment.

Company officials said that they provide enterprise-wide wholesale SIP Trunking services, which offer a better communication system to PSTN unlike connections using analog or PRI trunk lines.

Telecom experts often suggest that users should communicate over IP in the enterprise -- and also outside the enterprise -- with the help of a session initiation protocol (SIP) trunk to enable the optimum usage of IP-PBXs.

And Carrie Schmelkin noted that it’s almost here… that wonderful time of year where we are amped up about keeping our New Year’s Resolutions (for a month at least), excited to see if the elusive iPhone 5 will finally be released and pumped (especially if we live on the East Coast) about heading to Miami for ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2012.

In just a few weeks, the world’s largest communications conference and expo will be underway Feb. 1-3, and one company ready to hit the ground running at the event is Ingate Systems (News - Alert) who just announced that there will be a new SIP Trunk Academy as part of the SIP Trunk-Unified Communications (UC) Seminars at ITEXPO.

As in past years, the seminars will feature a variety of speakers from big-shot companies such as Broadvox, ShoreTel, Bandwidth.com, Commetrex, Dialogic (News - Alert), FaxCore, Grandstream, Intertex Data AB, NACR and Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCI Forum).

Want to learn more about the latest in communications and technology? Then be sure to attend ITEXPO East 2012, taking place Jan. 31-Feb. 3 2012, in Miami, FL. ITEXPO offers an educational program to help corporate decision makers select the right IP-based voice, video, fax and unified communications solutions to improve their operations. It's also where service providers learn how to profitably roll out the services their subscribers are clamoring for – and where resellers can learn about new growth opportunities.
