The Year Ahead - with IntelePeer's Charles Studt

TMCnet recently asked some of the leading lights in the industry for their thoughts about 2011 and what’s in store for the year ahead.

Here’s what Charles Studt, vice president of product management at IntelePeer (News - Alert), had to say.

What was your company's greatest achievement in 2011?
Studt: Our greatest achievement stems from our continued execution through the growth and robustness of our business overall and specifically, expanding our customer base and offerings in SIP trunking services. We were able to grow our business 76 percent in 2009 and 46 percent in 2010 despite the recession. Our growth has been driven largely by innovation, which we view as a constant process. Most importantly, we've executed across all of our service lines and business units, particularly through our SIP trunking services, where we've seen the industry evolve with the major players like Avaya, Microsoft (News - Alert), and Cisco.

What are your business's goals for 2012?
Studt: IntelePeer's goal for 2012 is to continue to execute across all our business units, particularly in our enterprise business unit, which is gaining traction. We will continue to innovate with the goal of opening up new service opportunities that will capitalize on the growing demand we see for video. We will work to eliminate any remaining barriers for enterprise and businesses that want to transition from legacy telephony technologies to SIP trunking to reduce operating expenses and gain productivity. We will work to accelerate connecting contact centers that are converting to SIP trunking.

How would you describe your outlook for business and the economy at large heading into 2012?
Studt: Because our products and services deliver cost savings that are critical to our customers in this challenging business environment, we believe that we are well positioned in the event of further economic slowdowns in 2012. Additionally, with our cloud based services, we help customers to offload capital expenses, allowing them to better manage the operating expenses to fit their requirements.

If there's one thing you'd like to see happen related to business in the year ahead, what is that one thing?
Studt: We believe we can help service providers and businesses overcome the problems associated with communicating across modalities, devices and platforms. As we solve that problem, we would love to see our customers improve collaboration between colleagues, partners and customers.  This will unleash a new wave of productivity.

If 2011 was the year of cloud and/or the year of the tablet, 2012 will be the year of…
Studt: cloud communications.
