At ITEXPO East 2012 in Miami this week, NetSapiens (News - Alert) launched n-Share, an enhancement to the company’s SIP feature server that allows carriers to manage multiple, geographically diverse boxes as a single server.
Eric Hernaez (News - Alert), vice president of marketing for NetSapiens, says most SIP feature servers have been designed to offer high availability, and to be failure resistant and resilient, but that no one else has been able to expose all the features of a Class 5 switch in such a far-flung environment – that is, not until n-Share. He adds that the NetSapiens solution also can determine where a SIP device is and point it toward the server that is closest to it.
This NetSapiens offer is about broader feature capability; resiliency; and a higher level of service, given it avoids latency by connecting endpoints with nearby servers.
In a separate and to-come announcement to address the fact that so many of our communications are going mobile, Hernaez says, NetSapiens expects to launch a mobile control panel in the coming weeks. That will enable businesses to extend calling functionality at their offices to mobile workers.
But whatever the product, Hernaez says NetSapiens is about delivering solutions that empower next-generation, smaller service providers to bring new services to market. Those solutions, he says, include everything a service provider needs – from billing, to order, to cash – in a very small footprint so smaller ISPs can deploy them. And it does it in a way that’s rock solid, he adds.
“If you’re looking for BroadSoft (News - Alert) features in a smaller package, we have the solution,” says Hernaez.
NetSapiens, which got its start in 2002, is based in San Diego. Much of the NetSapiens staff comes from the former Nuera Communications (News - Alert), which was acquired by AudioCodes.
