DoubleHorn Communications, which provides critical retail business services and cloud-based wholesale technologies to enterprises, needed an SBC partner to secure and control its IP communications service offerings. Acme provided the answer with a product offering for both business lines.

Acme Packet's (News - Alert) Net-Net Enterprise Session Director-Server Edition and SIP Trunk Xpress solutions, when integrated with DoubleHorn's technologies, helped increase margins and maximize customer satisfaction, said company officials.

The Net-Net Enterprise Session Director-Server Edition SBC uses industry-standard servers for border control functions; hence it reduces equipment expenses and simplifies operations. The SIP Trunk Xpress application, which automates error-prone SIP trunking configuration tasks, is used to accelerate time-to-market for cloud-based services.

Used together, Acme's packet solutions reportedly result in simplifying operations, substantial administrative savings, rapid time-to-market for new services and customers and a unified, scalable SBC portfolio that addresses wholesale and retail requirements.

That, however, is not the end of the story for DoubleHorn plans to use more of Acme's packet solutions to achieve further benefits.

Going forward, DoubleHorn plans to leverage the Net-Net Enterprise Session Director-Virtual Machine Edition and also plans to integrate the Acme Packet platforms with its own end-to-end provisioning systems.

By doing so, it hopes to achieve additional cost savings, enable on-demand services, offer end-user, Web-based self-selection tools to accelerate service enablement and reduce operational expenditures even further.

More than 1,775 customers in 109 countries are reported to have deployed over 19,000 Acme Packet systems, including 89 of the top 100 service providers and 45 of the Fortune100.
