The news on the SIP Trunking front was a bit light this week, but there's always something going on that's worth talking about. So let's settle in and take a quick look at what happened this week in SIP trunking with our regular installment of the week in review!
The biggest news in the SIP trunking sector came out of an announced coalition between Acme Packet (News
- Alert) Systems and DoubleHorn Communications. The two companies looked to combine their efforts by way of having Acme Packet Systems bring its Net-Net Enterprise Session Director, Server Edition, as well as its SIP Trunk Xpress system into play with DoubleHorn Communications' systems.
The end result was a system that could be used to not only reduce the need for extra equipment--Acme Packet Systems' line uses standard servers to provide border control functions--but also make operations simpler, reducing costs on that front as well. It wasn't all about cost reduction, though, as the introduction of Acme Packet's systems also allowed DoubleHorn Communications to improve services to their own customers, as described by remarks from DoubleHorn Communications CEO Tab Schadt, who said, "Thanks to Acme Packet, we can turn-up customers much more quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively."
While there wasn't a large number of news items this week to tackle in SIP trunking, there was plenty of importance in the news that was brought in. It's always a good idea to keep an eye not only on the specific events of the SIP trunking market, but also the wider impact of SIP trunking in general.
There's always plenty to consider about this sweeping, extraordinarily cost-effective technology, and as such, there's always reason to keep an eye out for news on this front. Our global online community is always ready to bring back fresh news about the SIP trunking sector, so join us right back here next week for more, and as always, cap it off with our week in review!
