TMCnet SIP Trunking Week in Review

While there wasn’t much in terms of products and technology announcements in the SIP Trunking space, there was a lot of other interesting news around.

TMCnet contributor Rajani Baburajan reported that telephone systems provider Estech Systems, Inc. has successfully demonstrated the interoperability of its family of VoIP systems with the session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking solution from Vintalk. As a result of this interoperability testing, Vintalk will be able to offer enterprise telephony capabilities with cost effective SIP trunking services to ESI users.


In another report, TMcnet contributing editor Susan J. Campbell focused on the SIP trunking market, which has grown nearly 800 percent in last five years, primarily driven by companies switching their traditional PBXs to SIP trunking and enhancing their phone services with SIP trunking.

Metaswitch recently met with TMC’s Rich Tehrani in San Jose for the Roadshow and talked about the benfits of SIP trunking. His comments are presented in Campbell’s column.

Similarly, TMCnet copy editor Brooke Neuman reported that international mattress provider Colchones El Dorado is using TelOnline’s customized telecom solutions for better communication with clients and potential customers. The customized solutions integrate Asterisk, SIP trunking and customer relationship management to empower Colchones El Dorado, stated TelOnline’s president Juan Carlos Castañeda.”

And TMCnet contributor Anil Sharma reported that VoIP origination and termination services provider VoIP Innovations was certified as a RespOrg or Responsible Organization.

The report indicates that RespOrg was launched in 1993 as part of the FCC order to institute toll-free number portability. “In order for carriers to become a RespOrg, they must go through a certification process. Once certification is approved, there is internal training that must be completed as well as BackOffice integration,” wrote Sharma.

Sharma’s report quotes Jason Tapolci, president of VoIP Innovations, as saying, “As one of the nation’s largest VoIP providers, becoming certified as a RespOrg was the next logical step for us.”
