TMCnet's SIP Trunking Week in Review

SIP trunking is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and streaming media service solution. SIP trunking allows for Internet telephony service providers to deliver telephone services and unified communication to any one that is equipped with the proper IP-PBX (News - Alert) equipment. SIP trunking is a popular tool used in both the home and office settings as it can work on a private or public domain.

It was a busy week for SIP trunking companies as Gamma announced it would be taking on a new partner, while BroadConnect Telecom is extending its product line, and imo.im Avails revealed it’s adding on a voice calling feature for its iOS platform.

Gamma and City Lifeline announced they would be partnering up to work on developing the ultimate communications provider. Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor, reported on the announcement. “This new partnership will provide Gamma with first rate co-location services, which will in turn boost its reliability and recommendations among potential channel partners, according to company officials,” said Shrivastava.

Alan Mackie, head of SIP Services at Gamma, said he is happy to work with City Lifeline to create this new network. “As a company we are dedicated to innovation and efficiency, which is why we chose to partner with a company like City Lifeline, which shares these values so openly,” said Mackie. “Thanks to the help of City Lifeline, the company can take its market leading services to the next level.”

Another company, BroadConnect Telecom announced that it would be offering Avaya (News - Alert) complaint trunking solutions starting this week according to TMCnet Contributor, Rajani Baburajan.

“The company’s SIP trunking solutions are compliance-tested with key collaboration and contact center solutions from Avaya which include: Avaya Aura Communicatio Manager r6.0.1, Avaya Aura Session Manager r6.1, and Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise r4.0.5,” said Baburajan. “BroadConnect Telecom is a technology partner in the Avaya DevConnect program… [and] is eligible to submit products for compliance testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test lab.”

Ravi Prasher, president of BroadConnect Telecom said this new solution changes the way SMB’s can be integrated. “The days of SMB’s paying large service fees and getting over served, are a thing of the past,” said Prasher. “They fully understand that our service is both flexible and scalable and can easily fit into their growing needs.”

Finally, imo.im Avails introduced a new messaging communication platform that’s compadible with Android and iOS devices. The new service will allow users to connect to other messaging services such as Google Talk, Facebook (News - Alert), and Skype by allowing for voice calls over the Wi-Fi or an Internet connection.

TMCnet Contributor, Calvin Azuri, explained “Leveraging the latest app from imo.im, users will now be able to make voice calls to their contacts via Wi-Fi, 3G, and 4G Internet connections. As a free voice calling app, the new offering has been designed to do away with associated cost of mobile minutes without compromising on the quality of the connection,” said Azuri. “Furthermore, the new app does not need data usage even when connected to Wi-Fi.”

Ralph Harik, CEO at imo.im agreed saying this new product will help users communication without increasing their mobile bills. “The availability of free voice calling for iPhone (News - Alert) users is a critical development for users looking to keep those valuable lines of communication open while saving on their mobile costs.”
