Level 3 Communications (News - Alert), Inc. has just revealed that Skullcandy, a global manufacturer of headphones, earbuds and headsets, is now leveraging its network and SIP offering to improve communication among key corporate locations in North America and China.

To create its products, Skullcandy uses bold color schemes, loud patterns, unique materials and creative packaging with its Supreme Sound audio technologies and innovative functionalities, which are sold in more than 70 countries around the world.

The existing network has been strained due to the rapid growth of the business, which is why Skullcandy turned to Level 3. Level 3’s solution addresses this issue head on and allows Skullcandy employees to share massive digital image files including artwork for merchandise boxes with manufacturers in China due to the global IP virtual private network (VPN) provided by Level 3.

Moreover, Level 3’s solutions will assist Skullcandy in enhancing customer service, improving employee communications and optimizing the day-to-day communications of corporate operations. To consolidate voice services and support customer service operations, Skullcandy will rely heavily on Level 3's enterprise SIP solution.

"We're relying on Level 3 to provide a rock-solid, high-performance international data infrastructure. Level 3's network and SIP solutions have improved the consistency and reliability of our communications," said Brent Allen, Skullcandy's senior technology manager, in a statement.

Level 3's IP VPN solution provides enterprise class metro and wide area network services over a private, dedicated multi-protocol label switching infrastructure. On a single network, SIP-based services allow enterprises to converge voice and data. This lays a foundation for the use of next generation communications and collaboration tools and creates tangible network and operational expense savings.
