Welcome to another TMCnet week in review, recapping some of the top stories from the past week in the SIP trunking industry.

First up, IntelePeer (News - Alert) signed an agreement with Chinook Communications to integrate IntelePeer's CoreCloud SIP trunking with Chinook hosted Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync unified communications deployments. This will enable more effective collaboration and communication for customers with seamless, carrier-quality connections.

IntelePeer's CoreCloud SIP trunking combines high-definition voice quality with four kilobit public key encryption. Furthermore, IntelePeer Lync SIP trunking has been full qualified for Lync Server 2010 and Lync Online Dedicated by the Microsoft Unified Communications (News - Alert) Interoperability Program.

Next, Hughes Network Systems won the 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year award for its fully managed, full-featured VoIP solution aimed at the distributed enterprise market. The product features ActiveQoS technology, ensuring consistent high-quality voice over cost-effective broadband.

“It is with pleasure that we recognize Hughes (News - Alert) with a Product of the Year Award. The editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY have verified that Hughes Enterprise VoIP displays quality and innovation while providing solutions to real business communications challenges,” stated Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO at TMC. “I would like to congratulate the team at Hughes for their commitment to advancing IP communication technologies.”

In other news, Abacus Group, a provider of hosted IT solutions for hedge funds and private equity funds, introduced AbacusVoice, a new fully managed voice solution. Meant to serve users as a hosted turnkey solution, AbacusVoice features always-on technical support and a fully scalable design, allowing customers to add and upgrade features seamlessly when needed.

Chris Grandi, CEO at Abacus said, “Nascent and established hedge funds alike need simple solutions that can help them run their operations more effectively. AbacusVoice provides the convenience of a hosted offering with the advanced features and high level of service hedge funds require, all delivered over a secure private infrastructure.”

Lastly, Ingate's SIParator E-SBC has passed and qualified in Microsoft's Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program for Lync Server 2010. As such, service providers, enterprise customers and resellers can be assured that Ingate SIParator E-SBCs are fully interoperable with Microsoft UC solutions featuring Lync with all security extensions.

Ingate Systems provides E-SBCs that enable SIP communications — including SIP trunking and UC — outside of the protected enterprise network. Now Ingate SIParator E-SBCs can help companies resolve interoperability issues while deploying the Lync platform.

That's all for this week in review. Be sure to check out the main SIP Trunking Channel for more news in this sector.
