Toronto's New Forensic Services and Coroner Complex Deploys Genetec's Security Center

The newly launched City of Toronto Forensic Services and Coroner’s Complex (FSCC) will be making use of Genetec (News - Alert) Security Center to bring together the complex’ security systems including customized video surveillance, biometrics access control, alarm system and more.

FSCC is a 49,000 square meter state-of-the-art facility that is slated to transform forensics in Canada to support complex criminal investigations. And security and control systems provider Marcomm Systems Group Inc. (MSGI) was tasked with the job of building a fully integrated IP security management system, with layered security that is fully redundant with no single point of failure.

As part of the security detail, MSGI added several customized sub-systems including biometric access control, alarm monitoring for critical areas, roof line detection and other locations of concern. The FSCC also features a facility-wide duress panic-alarm system, as well as MSGI’s own developed VoIP recoding box to record all distress signals for recording and review.

Genetec’s Security Center is a unified security platform that can seamlessly blend IP security surveillance systems within a single intuitive interface to simplify the security operations at the FSCC.

The Security Center is loaded with advanced security features that will let MSGI to be ready for addressing ever-changing incidents and events. It is network-based, and engineered with an open and highly-scalable architecture and also supports deep integration, making it easy for users to take full advantage of third party products.
