Digium Inc. announced the launch of six new telephony cards specifically optimized for use with communications systems using Asterisk (News - Alert) software. The Digium hardware coupled with Asterisk software offers one of the most powerful and cost-efficient platforms for rolling-out various communications systems including the PBX (News - Alert) systems, IVR servers, VoIP gateways, call center systems and Unified Communication (UC) systems. The latest product roll-out fortifies the company’s position as a market leader in the development of advanced hardware systems to support Asterisk telephony market.

In a release, Mark Amick, Director of Product Management at Digium (News - Alert), said “All Digium telephony cards offer tremendous opportunities for integrators and OEMs to build advanced communications systems, while also allowing for customization in order to meet their business needs. Being the creators of Asterisk, users can be assured these new cards integrate seamlessly with Asterisk and can focus on building next-generation phone systems without worrying about integration issues.”

The latest launch includes TE234 and TE435 digital cards and A4 series and A8 series analog cards, offering more reliability and enhanced performance. The embedded features include low profile form factors, field upgradable firmware, reduced interrupt times, capacity to handle high jitter environments, thus enhancing the performance of the computer processor. The newly launched telephony cards, as with other products from Digium, are the only products certified for use with Asterisk-based communications systems in the market. The certification reinforces the fact that the applications developed by OEMs and integrators on the Asterisk platform will function reliably when used with Digium hardware and will have end-to-end support from Digium.

The new series of telephony cards are compatible with standard protocols for telephony products in the industry and also with optional echo cancellation modules. The echo cancellation module hardware is built using Octasic (News - Alert) chipset, which effectively offloads the echo cancellation process from the CPU, thus enhancing the call quality and system performance.

Digium is credited with the development, maintenance and sponsoring of Asterisk software and hardware products that are compatible for use with Asterisk software. Asterisk, the open source communications software, is the widely used platform in the global communications industry and features the capability to upgrade a computer into a high-performance communications server. The company also offers on-premises and on-cloud Switchvox (News - Alert) business telephony systems to deliver advanced UC and UCaaS solutions.
