Mavenir's SBC Selected by T-Mobile Netherlands for IP Voice Interconnect

T-Mobile Netherlands has selected Mavenir Systems (News - Alert) Session Border Controller (SBC) for IP Voice Interconnect.

Mavenir’s next generation SBC is specifically designed for wireless applications and addresses the demands for mobility, scalability and quality of service as required by Voice over LTE (News - Alert) (VoLTE) and Rich Communication Services (RCS) services.

Mavenir’s SBC is a software-based, carrier grade solution that can be deployed on cloud-based infrastructures using Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Network (SDN) technologies, and its architecture provides the flexibility needed to adapt to the varied traffic models that these IP-based services impose on mobile operator networks.    

This SBC solution can be deployed for either Access or Interconnect SBC use cases, with full support for VoLTE and RCS deployments.

“As operators launch 4G services, they will need an SBC that is designed to handle the unique challenges of wireless and mobility,” said Pardeep Kohli, president and chief executive officer, Mavenir Systems, in a statement.

Kohli said that Mavenir’s next generation SBC will support T-Mobile’s (News - Alert) strategy with quick and easy deployment.

“We continue to select Mavenir as a key vendor based on their ability to deliver and implement next generation solutions that support our network strategy,” said Wojciech Polak, director network infrastructure, T-Mobile Netherlands.

Polak said that this SBC solution will be deployed for both Access and Interconnect SBC use cases.

Earlier this month, Mavenir Systems announced that it had provided its WebRTC Gateway (News - Alert) to T-Hrvatski Telekom (T-HT), one of Croatia's largest telecommunications companies and a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, as part of the TeraStream project.

Mavenir's WebRTC Gateway has been delivered as a virtualized solution into the T-HT data center, which enables seamless interworking with their multi-vendor IMS network from mobile or wired devices.

The gateway acts as a bridge between IMS-based services (voice, video and messaging) and the WebRTC-enabled browser applications. The ubiquitous nature of the web translates into service ubiquity for the IMS subscriber.
