VoIP Providers Need an Edge in the Crowded Marketplace

In a crowded market, often technology can make the difference. When it comes to the technology industry, this is even more the case.

Voice-over-IP (VoIP) is quickly emerging as the future of calling, with consumers and businesses adopting the technology in droves due to the lower cost of calling, added features and extra mobility it can provide.

While demand is strong, this also has led to a number of providers crowding into the space; the competition is strong among VoIP providers, which means it is more important than ever to have strong technology on the backend.

One vendor enabling VoIP providers is Speedflow. The company offers a number of carrier-grade VoIP products, most notably its CallMax Class 5 Softswitch.

The softswitch is a key piece of technology for any VoIP firm, and CallMax is a proprietary Class 5 softswitch based on Linux that can give VoIP providers the edge.

The CallMax softswitch supports an unlimited number of subscribers, and can be clustered to also deliver an unlimited number of concurrent calls, making it appropriate for providers both large and small.

One feature that makes CallMax valuable is its multilevel, role-based functionality that lets providers differentiate access rights for particular types of users.

Speedflow also is pushing into services, as it told TMCnet during ITEXPO (News - Alert) in Miami this past January.

“Starting this year, we will be providing outsourcing services,” noted Alexander Constantinov, software sales manager for Speedflow. “So basically, we will be providing development and maintenance services not only for the voice-over-IP market, but also for different types of areas.”

These include consultations, installation, training, and technical support, according to the company’s web site.

“Our experts possess the depth and breadth of industry experience that helps customers create a high-performance infrastructure,” noted the company on its site.

In case of the softswitch solutions, providers can get comprehensive recommendations on the optimal hardware configuration, and softswitch configuration and capacity. Consulting is based on the individual needs of every customer.

In a crowded market, solutions such as CallMax and the services Speedflow offer can help make the difference between success and failure.
