SIP Trunking Week in Review

This week's SIP trunking news has seen the expansion of several companies from mobile app development to education and training. IP communications company XO announced that it is investing in a multi-year expansion of its communications network. Technology solutions company NACR said it will expand training offered through its Center of Excellence for Learning and Development.  Mobile app platform provider Zingaya is now connecting its platform to local phone networks and magicJack beefed up its presence with a new mobile app that provides customers with long-reaching access to U.S and Canadian landlines.

XO provides businesses with access to its nationwide communications network. Now, running with a grant of $500 million, the IP communications and intelligent networking company is expanding its network to improve customer experiences with higher bandwidth capability and better pricing. XO will also look to reach more cities with its network—allowing businesses to better utilize their own unified communications and data networking assets.

NACR will be offering new courses on the Avaya (News - Alert) Enterprise Session Border Controller (ESBC) and Avaya Aura Messaging. NACR will provide both in-person and virtual instructor-lead courses for employees of all skill levels. Telecom and IT administrators can learn to install and manage the ESBC, and all IT employees can learn how to operate the Aura Messenger. Those two courses are already in the making, and NACR reportedly will be launching an Avaya Aura Session Manager Administration course, as well.

Zingaya provides customers with its VoxImplant service to deliver audio and video communications services for softphone, private branch exchange, call tracking, and automated survey applications, among others. Now, the company is using Voxbone (News - Alert) to connect its own customers to local telephone networks. Voxbone is a telecommunications provider that offers geographical, mobile, and toll-free telephone numbers through either a web portal or through access by an API. So, by using Voxbone, VoxImplant customers can access public switched telephone networks more efficiently – directly through a web browser.

Finally, the new magicJack Android app is now allowing mobile users to make calls throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as to all other magicJack users worldwide, for only the price of its subscription fee. Once users create an account with the company, they can make calls from their phones and tablets without having to use up mobile minutes or secure their own VoIP plan. The app lets users securely store their contacts on their own devices to easily make calls to the people they speak to the most. magicJack is also working with the Intel Software Program to provide developers with access to Intel tools and code that will help them develop the Android (News - Alert) app even further.
