GL Communications (News - Alert) products support a variety of signaling and audio processing applications in both VoIP and TDM. These tools are helpful to users to match, analyze, and troubleshoot audio signaling over both VoIP and TDM platform.

Recently, the company has rolled out improved VoIP and T1 E1 platform applications with G.722 Wideband Audio Codec support. The new G.722 is a wideband codec with more natural sound, better clarity, and intelligibility and this solution is license free.

G.722 is recognized as an ITU-T 16 kHz (with 14 bits per sample) wideband speech codec standard, working at 48, 56 and 64 kbps and is backed by technology based on sub-band ADPCM (SB-ADPCM). G.722 sample audio data works at a rate of 16 kHz (using 14 bits), double that of traditional telephony interfaces, which results in better performance, according to the company.

Mr. Vijay Kulkarni CEO of the company said, "Despite revolutionary advances in telecommunications technology, audio quality has remained virtually unchanged for nearly 50 years! This may change with the penetration of VoIP in wired networks and Voice over LTE (News - Alert) (VoLTE) for wireless networks.”

This codec standard is used to convey higher quality audio over 64 kbps ISDN circuits and this is also called "program audio" for radio stations. Also, GL applications supports G.722 over TDM are ISDN Analyzer, Call Capture & Analysis (CCA), Voice Band Analyzer (VBA) application, and Real-Time Multi-Channel Audio Bridge and more.

The GL applications also support G.722 over IP such as PacketScan, PacketGen, VQuad SIP and all MAPS Emulation products. PacketScan is a versatile Packet Analyzer for VoIP that supports many signaling protocols like H.323, SIP, RTP, Skinny, Megaco, and more.

For many years now, GL Communications has been working with major telecom equipment vendors (EVs) and system integrators to meet the testing requirements ascending at various stages of telecommunications product development life cycle.

The company’s test solutions cover wide array of networks – 4G (LTE), 3G, IP, Ethernet, T1, T3, E1, E3, OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4, and traditional PSTN networks.
