Several IP solutions providers reached out to neighboring businesses this week, expanding SIP trunking and related services within the U.S. government, the global broadband service sector, and the Indian airspace market. TMC also reported on the nature of the overall SIP market—specifically its growth over the past year and its expected growth over the next four years.

General Dynamics C4 Systems (News - Alert) reached a milestone this week within the U.S. Department of State. It delivered to the Department the company's 4000th Sectera vIPer Universal Secure Phone—the type of secure phone department officials have used since 2007. The model works with all U.S. government secure phones, phones within the Department of Defense, and commercial VoIP phones used within the government. Officials from the level of top secret and below reportedly use the vIPer on a daily basis. The FBI will begin using the model during the second quarter of 2014.

Vyve Broadband, a broadband service provider for midize enterprises, has reached out to Alianza (News - Alert), a VoIP solutions provider, to handle the company's need for voice communications. Alianza will offer Vyve professional services that include customer support, device certifications, and training programs in addition to the use of its EasySwitch VoIP program. Alianza reportedly markets itself as a provider of solutions that include a minimum of risk with a high margin for potential earnings.

Park Air has further established its presence in India by initiating a deal with The Airport Authority of India (AAI). The AAI was reportedly in need of improved air traffic surveillance, and Park Air will be helping the organization achieve that goal by providing it with “500 pairs of Park Air T6 air traffic control (ATC) transmitters and receiver radios, the Park Air S4 remote control units, filters, multicouplers and antennas,” reports TMC. The two organizations have worked together for several years, and AAI's step into the realm of VoIP-based communications should function to enhance the partnership as well as the ability of AAI to conduct ATC transmissions.

Telephony products manufacturer Grandstream Networks (News - Alert) recently launched its GXV3240 IP Video Phone, an Android-compatible desktop phone that provides users with access to apps within the Google (News - Alert) Play Store. It offers users six SIP accounts and has support for 11 languages. It supports the storage of up to 160 contacts and has a touchscreen for menu navigation.

Support for the above areas of interest, full-featured IP phones, and business partnerships is made possible by the growing demand for SIP trunking services. Infonetics (News - Alert) recently reported that the SIP market “is set to grow to $88 billion by 2018, with the business VoIP sector accounting for $35 billion of that total.” Large businesses are finding out that the platform is stable enough to handle their demands, and small businesses are being drawn in by the flexibility of VoIP and how service providers can offer them only the features they need while removing the ones they do not. Indeed, the report states that VoIP services grew 11 percent and private branch exchange (PBX) and unified communications (UC) services grew 13 percent in 2013. The growth is huge and dynamic, and it is the perfect breeding ground for the types of services and mergers readers view in headlines every week.
