Aryaka Solves VoIP Issues for EchoFirst

EchoFirst, a manufacturer of next generation hybrid solar panels, needed to establish connectivity between its California headquarters and customer teams in India. Needing to ensure smooth connectivity and speedy file transfer while protecting its capital, it selected Aryaka (News - Alert) over the standard MPLS for connecting its offices.

EchoFirst’s preference for Aryaka was primarily triggered by the fact that although MPLS usually delivers a reliable, predictable network within a certain geography, it doesn’t deliver the same results for traffic –say to China or India.

"We found a lot of issues with VoIP -- data packet loss, latency, echo and the quality of voice. MPLS would take 2-3 months to implement and the cost was something we did not want to take on," said Sasan Vossoughi, IT Director, EchoFirst.

Although MPLS has become the de-facto standard for site-to-site connectivity, it can be challenging and expensive when used to establish connectivity that lie across oceans. In such cases, MPLS results in high packet loss rates and high latency. Packet loss is proportional to the distance between user and server: greater the distance, higher the packet loss.

Also, adding capacity to network can be extremely difficult and for international locations such as India or China, MPLS could take months.

In contrast, Aryaka’s service is less costly and can establish and enforce service levels for quality and availability, address latency and throughput issues, jitter and packet loss before they impact end users. It offers reliable enterprise-grade connectivity that can be increased on demand at will, delivering even more capacity for large file transfers. With Aryaka’s service, there are no long wait times and no network delays.

“Since going live with Aryaka, we haven't had any issues and the data packet exchange rates have been good. Also, with Aryaka, we basically avoided the cost and the long implementation time associated with MPLS. It's quite an impressive solution, and we've been very happy," noted Vossoughi.

Thus, Aryaka’s multi-segment architecture with distributed points of presence and backbone redundancy provided EchoFirst with superior performance and lightning fast setup at a lower cost, putting an end to all the VoIP issues that it was facing.
