XConnect, the global player in Federation-based interconnection and telephone number registry services, has acquired sms eSolutions GMBH.
sms eSolutions GmbH, founded in April 2000, serves international carriers, metro network operators, Internet service providers, mobile operators and VoIP providers with number portability management services.
In 2001, sms eSolutions GmbH bought International Carrier Communication System (ICCS ) software from Synetix Information Management GmbH to deliver service providers number portability management services. The sms eSolutions GmbH claims that it offers the most advanced ICCS Professional software in the market.
The acquisition combines IP Interconnection expertise with an advanced number portability platform to simplify end-to-end IP routing and service delivery.
Officials with XConnect said that the acquisition is part of the company’s overall strategy to enable service providers to seamlessly deliver IP services around the world. It positions XConnect as a single source for integrated IP interconnection and number portability management services globally.
“This acquisition is a milestone for the development of XConnect’s business and we are excited by the opportunities that the acquisition presents. Together with sms eSolutions we are solving some of the most pressing challenges facing service providers today,” said Eli Katz, CEO at XConnect, in a statement.
Katz said that sms eSolutions has demonstrated its expertise and value in the German market. It is a robust and innovative business that offers XConnect the opportunity to offer a deeper set of services, and to strengthen the company’s business in Germany.
“We also look forward to taking these services global and adding further value to our customers in existing markets as well as developing new opportunities,” said Katz.
Elmar Körner, managing director at sms eSolutions, said that XConnect is an ambitious and proven global business and the company is excited to see its solutions scale to meet the needs of service providers around the world.
“The successes we have had in Germany can be replicated in new markets and we are excited to be joining a company that has a true vision for the future of IP communications,” said Körner.
Earlier in May, XConnect and Extol, an ICT solution provider in Malaysia and Indonesia, had announced the launch of Asia Interconnect Exchange (AIX).
AIX provides local and regional service providers with hub-based IP interconnection services allowing them to connect their Next-Generation Networks and VoIP communications seamlessly via a single platform.
