Toshiba's New Hybrid Premises, Cloud Networking Solution Provides Many Benefits for Business Communications

Toshiba (News - Alert) has come up with a hybrid premises and cloud solution which will provider lower costs, internal calling and many call processing features for enterprises.

The solutions were announced by Toshiba America Information Systems’ Telecommunication Systems Division. It will be delivered among its on-premises IPedge and Strata CIX business telephone systems and VIPedge cloud-based business telephone solutions.

"Users of Toshiba's premises-based IPedge and Strata CIX and cloud-based VIPedge business telephone solutions can now network their systems together for a fully integrated communications solution," Brian Metherell (News - Alert), vice president and general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division, said in a statement. "Networking together premises and cloud systems provide users with a robust hybrid business communication solution that helps users expand features and reduce costs while utilizing the deployment platforms of their choice."

The new solutions let Toshiba provide an application, single-vendor telephone and SIP trunk solution across premises and the cloud, the company said. Toshiba's solution additionally provides increased advanced call processing transparency and lessens the risk of interoperability problems. 

Other benefits and features include: internal dialing and IPMobility calling across the network; as well as Strata CTX and CIX users having the option to upgrade processor and firmware, and adding new users and locations with reduced capital expenses. In addition, by using Toshiba's SIP Trunking I-VoIP Service for IPedge and Strata CIX, users can make free local and long distance calls within the continental United States at all company sites. This will take place regardless of where Toshiba’s on-premises or cloud-based business telephone solutions are located.

There are some other noteworthy features. They include: DID failover forwarding, so service can continue even if a wide area network connection to the premises goes down; inbound calls are forwarded to a mobile phone number; and roll-over trunks, which allow calls to DIDs to roll over to a second Toshiba SIP Trunk. That allows calls to be handled by multiple sites.

Toshiba’s cloud-based VIPedge business telephone solution supports up to 500 users, and the IPedge and Strata CIX systems support between eight and 1,000 users. They also provide conferencing and collaboration, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), voice mail and unified messaging, unified communications applications, networking and mobility.
