For the past 12 years, Ingate Systems (News - Alert) has remained committed to innovation, bleeding-edge technologies and differentiation, especially in the SIP trunking environment.

“Our product is known in the industry as a very robust product with features that exceed what our competitors can provide,” Ingate President Steve Johnson (News - Alert) told Webrtcworld at the WebRTC Conference & Expo, taking place from June 17-19 in Atlanta, Georgia. “We differentiate ourselves with the capabilities in our product, which is further differentiated by our price point. We make ourselves easier to work with than our competition.”

Most recently, the company showed its commitment to the SIP session controller business with the release of its WebRTC and SIP PBX (News - Alert) Companion, which allows PBX and UC solution vendors to integrate WebRTC features and benefits into their enterprise solutions. It also unveiled its Q-TURN technology, which will be integrated in its E-SBCs to grant WebRTC, or any real-time communication using the ICE standard for NAT/firewall traversal, secure access and quality between the enterprise LAN and the World Wide Web, even over data-crowded Internet accesses, as put by company officials.

For Ingate, the decision to embark in the WebRTC space was a no brainer. After all, the company views it as an enabling, disruptive technology, one with the potential to expand or enhance the way in which we communicate, Johnson explained.

“Since Alexandra Graham Bell made that first phone call, we have discussed doing things with just voice,” he said. “There’s so much interaction that is better done face-to-face or with video, and we think WebRTC has this ability to make it simpler and easier to have that kind of communication with people.”

The introduction of the WebRTC and SIP PBX Companion and Q-TURN technology enables this voice and video communication. It brings WebRTC—an ad-hoc, peer-to-peer arrangement—to its clients in a cost effective manner that easily integrates within a SIP environment.  For Ingate, a company with tens of thousands of customers around the world, the company is incredibly excited about the future of WebRTC and its ability to take things that are currently impossible with today’s telephony products and turn them into very real possibilities—like video conferencing.

As Johnson explained, today companies can’t do video conferencing easily. While they can leverage SIP technology to get started, they have to involve the service provider at some point which makes it cumbersome and challenging.  There are several recent use cases, however, that point to WebRTC’s ability to simplify the process.

Amazon, for example, introduced its Mayday button for the Kindle Fire, which is based on WebRTC technology.

“Amazon saw the benefit of having a video of a person on their end talking to you, and how beneficial that is in terms of getting the right customer experience for this relatively complex or new technology,” Johnson said. He added that more and more use cases like this will continue to pop up as companies gain a better understanding of the disruptive technology.

While at the WebRTC Conference & Expo this week, Ingate’s CEO Karl Stahl (News - Alert) will take the microphone on Wednesday, June 18, from 9:50 to 10:20am for a breakout session titled, “Making Your Enterprise Ready for WebRTC,” which will address how to prepare the network prior to a WebRTC deployment to maximize the benefits of WebRTC.

Stahl will discuss what devices can enable enterprise-class WebRTC, what’s needed to maintain security, and what’s necessary to ensure successful WebRTC usage in the enterprise. The company will also be exhibiting at e booth No. 101.
