Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) has recently rolled out two new ultra-low ON (News - Alert) resistance load switch ICs, called the TCK111G and TCK112G, for power management in portable/mobile devices, such as smart phones, that involve high-density board assembly.

The TCK111G and TCK112G are Load Switch ICs, designed for power management with Reverse Current Blocking and Thermal Shutdown function. These functions feature ultra-low switch on resistance, high output current, and wide input voltage operation from 1.1 to 5.5 V. Reverse current blocking function is active regardless of output n-ch MOSFET ON/OFF state in the condition that VIN is supplied.

Switch ON resistance is only 8.3 mΩ (typ.) at VIN = 5.0 V, and -1.5 A load conditions and output current is available on 3.0 A. The TCK111G and TCK112G also include an inrush current suppressing slew rate control driver and output auto-discharge function (offered as an option on the TCK112G).

Board-mounted power dissipation ratings for TCK111G and TCK112G are available in the Absolute Maximum Ratings table.

The company is currently offering these switches in a 0.5 mm pitch, ultra-small package WCSP6C (1.0 mm x 1.5 mm, t: 0.5 mm (typ.)), and are ideal for smart phones, but are also targeted to tablet PCs, portable audio players, digital cameras, camcorders, games and other small mobile devices.

These switches accompany an input capacitor (CIN) and an output capacitor (COUT) for the stable operation of TCK111G and TCK112G. And, it is effective to reduce voltage overshoot or undershoot due to sharp changes in output current and also for improved stability of the power supply.

The company is currently selling new ultra-low ON resistance load switch ICs for budgetary pricing of $0.20. Interested parties can contact a local Toshiba (News - Alert) Sales Office for samples and pricing.

Founded in Tokyo in 1875, Toshiba is at the heart of a global network of over 590 consolidated companies employing over 200,000 people worldwide.
