Teliax Announces CyberData Interoperability

Teliax, a VoIP service provider, announced that it has attained an interoperability certification with CyberData (News - Alert)'s paging and intercom products.

“Paging and intercom devices are often overlooked in today’s IP PBX installations,” said Teliax vice president of retail operations Kerry Garrison (News - Alert). “By utilizing CyberData’s paging and intercom devices resellers and integrators can increase sales by offering more complete solution.”

Teliax’s (News - Alert) IVY hosted platform is interoperable with CyberData’s bullhorns, overhead speakers and intercom systems. IVY lets partners sell services like hosted VoIP and SIP trunking through a web portal. It even includes automatic invoicing and billing, giving resellers maximum flexibility in doing business.

Although PA systems might seem like an unlikely candidate to connect to a PBX (News - Alert) system, there are still some advantages to doing so.

“Customers often overlook the benefits of paging devices in an IP environment, especially in a hosted PBX environment,” said Phil Lembo, president of CyberData. “Teliax understands the needs of the end user and this interoperability certification helps drive this message to the resellers and integrators.”

CyberData offers IP-based paging systems. Some of the use cases include mass notification systems in schools, assisted living facilities, small offices and stores.

One major reason for installing these systems is to notify lots of people of an emergency, which is difficult to do by calling each person one-by-one.  Connecting to an outside phone system makes it possible for outside emergency personnel to warn lots of people of events such as severe weather quickly.

Office intercom systems can also be set to dial someone’s phone. Since even many small offices are upgrading to VoIP technology, an IP intercom integrated with the phone system makes a lot of sense.

Teliax is appearing at this week’s ITEXPO (News - Alert) this week in Las Vegas, celebrating the company’s tenth anniversary. Teliax is showing off its IVY platform.
