TransNexus Makes it Even Easier to Combat Fraud

A new version of SDReporter is coming out from TransNexus (News - Alert), which makes it even easier to combat fraud.

Announced early at ITEXPO Las Vegas by TransNexus founder Jim Dalton, he told TMC’s Peter Bernstein it meets the clear need to block costly fraud events.

SDReporter is a telecom fraud detection and call detail record (CDR) reporting and analysis solution for Acme Packet (News - Alert) Session Border Controllers, BroadWorks, Metaswitch, and Cisco Call Manager. It offers telecom fraud, call completion, and quality of service reports and alarms.

“We’ve really been able to make a big advance with this new release that’s coming out,” Dalton explained. It is simpler and easier to use than earlier options, and it comes as fraud has gotten “out of control,” he adds.

In fact, tools and instructions for SIP fraud are found easily on the Internet and in social media.

“Never has it been so easy to perpetrate fraud over SIP networks,” Dalton warns, adding that customers are just a “wide open door for fraud.”

“It is huge,” Dalton said. “You got to be able to catch it at the edge of your network, if you’re a service provider. And that’s what SDReporter does for you. It can stop fraud immediately.”

In practical terms, that means that with some basic fine tuning, a single instance of fraud can be lowered to just $5 or $10. Often, each instance of fraud can cost tens of thousands of dollars. That means, too, it will pay “for itself with one fraud event,” Dalton said.

Here is more on how it works. “When a suspicious spike occurs, the TransNexus system simply and automatically blacklists the route, ensuring that fraud losses are kept to an absolute minimum without interrupting legitimate calls,” according to a company statement. “TransNexus fraud detection features also include fraud blacklists, fraud scoring, call diversion, and call blocking.”
