Communication has undergone rapid changes over the last few years due to the advent of Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. This technology has given companies the option to use the Internet as the background for making calls. As a result, companies can make calls to any part of the world for low rates. However, the downside of VoIP is that it requires new investment in software. The existing phone system has to be dismantled completely because it is incompatible with VoIP. Hence, companies are either forced to stay with their existing PBX (News - Alert) systems or they can go all-in with VoIP and cloud technology.
To bridge this gap that exists between PBX and VoIP and give users a greater degree of flexibility to retain their existing phone system without compromising on the benefits of VoIP, Fonality (News - Alert) has created a hybrid system. Under this system, uses can manage multiple phone systems and even synchronize different configurations. This system was recently given a U.S. Patent for one of its key components. With this patent, Fonality stands to gain a competitive advantage in the VoIP Hybrid market.
Fonality's system comes with many unique features. It offers an integrated call management and collaboration option that includes drag and drop call handling, personalized call routing and voicemail transcription to make it easy for businesses to have a better control over all incoming calls. Another salient feature is its worker support that includes mobile desk integration, softphone support and multiple location integration using which workers can work remotely.
These features have helped Fonality carve a niche for itself in the crowded VoIP market. Along with these features, the new patent is likely to give boost to the operations of this company.
