Comings & Goings: Wohlers Promoted to snom Technology CFO

Just a few months after announcing a new CEO, Berlin-based snom technology AG has promoted former finance director Guido Wohlers to CFO.

The unified communications (UC) company clearly has its eye on expanding its market share both nationally and internationally. Wohlers’ promotion follows the announcement that Markus Schmitt-Fumian was named as the company’s CEO in June. Additionally, last month the company attracted an investment of capital funds from HeidelbergCapital, an independent private equity funds group based in Heidelberg.

Among Wohlers’ new duties as CFO is the long-range goal of strengthening the company’s worldwide network of distributors, resellers and customers, according to the company.

"Guido Wohlers' appointment to this post guarantees the continuity needed to move ahead with our plans to extend the international footprint of the company and optimize our financial processes for success in the national and international markets,” Schmitt-Fumian said.

Wohlers has the inside knowledge of the company, with more than 12 years of experience in its ranks.

"He has a thorough understanding of snom's finances and growth planning, and I am looking forward to the success I am sure he will bring to the company."

According to the company, snom technology develops and manufactures voice over IP (VoIP) telephones based on open standard for enterprise communications.  These VoIP phones reportedly can be operated with a number of compatible IP-PBX systems that support the Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP). 

The company markets these devices for use in all business environments ranging from home offices to small- and medium-sized enterprises and large corporations. It reportedly also works directly with carriers, Internet Service Providers and OEM customers.

The company has established its global presence through branch offices and a partner network.
