Telcom & Data Launches Line of Resilient VoIP Phones

Telecommunications solutions company Telcom & Data has introduced a new line of VoIP phones for Guardian Telecom designed specifically for industrial and/or hazardous environments. The phones are certified for locations where a fire or explosion may occur due to flammable gases, vapors or liquids, such as in the case of hazardous chemical areas, correctional facilities, construction sites, factories and government sites.

A certified independent laboratory has performed rigorous testing on the Guardian phones to ensure compliance with industry specifications, and they are manufactured in a modern facility certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Underwriters Laboratories (News - Alert) (UL) and the ATEX directive. They are compliant with the Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard or optionally can be powered by an external power supply.

This product line marks the first from the company that combines renowned quality specifications and ruggedness with reliable VoIP services. Previous offerings from the company that are applicable to similar industrial and hazardous situations but lack compatibility with VoIP services and infrastructure include the Outdoor Industrial IP, Indoor Industrial IP and Emergency-Help Point product lines.

Various models of the Guardian explosion- and hazard-proof phones are available, including weather-resistant and watertight varieties as well as desk/wall and interior units. The company emphasizes that all are simple to launch and configure, with the Guardian Discover Utility making it easy to detect, locate and launch the online configuration menu. Personnel can even monitor and control settings using only a web browser.
