The newly unveiled Lantiq (News - Alert) DUSLIC XS from Lantiq is the company’s next-generation voice line termination chip that can be implemented in CPE designs to minimize power and bring down bill of materials (BOM) costs.

Termed as a single-chip CODEC/SLIC (Subscriber Line Circuit), the new DUSLIC XS consumes less power and can overcome design problems associated with power consumption, power dissipation and system footprint of voice systems. The new CPE designs based on DUSLIC XS can ensure high quality wideband-capable voice telephony and very few external components.

Johannes Eiblmeier, vice president and head of the voice and telecom products business line, stated, “The latest generation of our DUSLIC family again sets the benchmark for CPE voice line termination. One example is the combined DC/DC mode, which allows use of a single power converter to support two voice lines while still achieving exceptional power consumption to readily meet the stringent requirements defined in the European Code of Conduct (CoC).”

Lantiq asserted that the new DUSLIC XS is a reaffirmation of its commitment to deliver CPE suppliers with complete solutions for voice optimization services that make use of the company’s mixed-signal design expertise and vast experience in voice telephony.

The DUSLIC XS is integrated with advanced features like integrated test and diagnostic functions, DTMF generator and receiver, loop and ground start signaling and support for Linux TAPI. The solution can be deployed in various applications such as xPON single family units and home gateway units, STBs and cable modems, VoIP terminals, PBX (News - Alert) gateways and more.

The company added that apart from the abovementioned advanced features, the new chip integrates automated line testing capabilities that far exceed the requirements of GR.909. The DUSLIC XS and associated reference designs are available now for users.
