Traditional telecommunications service providers are facing considerable challenges, as over-the-top (OTT) solutions are relegating them to IP transport only. While providing IP transport still generates revenue, the vast majority of carriers want to retain the value wired and wireless telephony delivers to their offers. The challenge is more difficult when it comes to delivering communication solutions for enterprises, because cloud computing, virtualization and UC software is allowing them to purchase voice and data services like large carriers. To address the challenges in the enterprise space, the world’s largest telcos are relying on Voxbone, provider of virtual local phone numbers with services that allows cloud communications providers, international carriers and enterprise contact centers to extend their voice networks internationally.

Voxbone (News - Alert) announced it is currently supporting more than 4 billion minutes of calls through its local DID numbers and WebRTC-to-SIP service providing solutions to five of the world’s largest telcos – Orange Business Services, Deutsche Telekom (News - Alert), Telecom Italia Sparkle, NTT Communications, and Telefónica.

Telcos are now competing with multiple sources in delivering communications solutions, and when it comes to enterprise customers the competition gets even stiffer, because the enterprises themselves are now forming partnerships to start providing wireless services.

What Voxbone gives carriers is a solution global enterprises can integrate in to their platform with worldwide coverage meeting compliances across countries for a seamless integration with localize customer support services. The company becomes a reliable international extension for the SIP trunking services of enterprises without having to worry about the complex telecommunication regulations that are being implemented in each country around the world.

On top of the more than four billion minutes of voice calls it supported, which was a 29 percent increase of traffic on its network, the company saw a 32 percent increase in enterprise cloud communications, 42 percent increase in multinational contact centers and 28 percent in conferencing services.

Some of the features of the Voxbone platform includes:

  • Local geographical, toll-free and mobile phone numbers
  • 50+ countries and 8,000+ cities
  • Global call capacity (VoxTRUNK)
  • Flat-rate billing, no per minute fees (VoxDID)
  • Access to local emergency centers (VoxOUT)
  • SMS, T.38 and fax-to-email support
  • Local number portability
  • API and Web portal for real-time provisioning

“We are thrilled to see that the world’s most prestigious telcos have chosen Voxbone to extend the international reach of their unified communications platforms. While low-cost, low-quality providers have emerged, our strong growth figures underscore the importance of quality and regulatory compliance for enterprise communications,” said Itay Rosenfeld, CEO of Voxbone.

Since the first phone call was made by Alexander Graham Bell and his assistant Thomas Watson in 1876, the technology hasn’t stopped evolving, and the transition from fixed physical location to softphones will present many more opportunities and just as many challenges for established companies. Voxbone makes the transition more tolerable for companies that still haven’t caught on to what is taking place.
