There’s been an uptick in SIP trunking and cloud demand of late, as both small and medium-sized businesses and enterprises are converging their data and voice network infrastructures and rolling out advanced IP-based applications. Evidence of that can be seen in the growth of traffic for Voxbone (News - Alert), which said that it logged a 29 percent increase on its network in the past 12 months.

The company said that the traffic spike is mainly due to the growth in the number of inbound SIP trunks (often referred to as DID numbers); and, it logged four billion minutes of voice calls. Overall, enterprise cloud communications increased in revenue by 32 percent, multi-national contact centers by 42 percent and conferencing services by 28 percent.

In 2014, Voxbone also launched a global WebRTC-to-SIP delivery network service, which allows companies with SIP-based VoIP infrastructure to use its IP backbone for the international transport of WebRTC calls. That eliminates complex software development or network investment.

Meanwhile, the provider’s footprint has grown. Enterprises operate more globally than ever, with nearly all of them supporting satellite offices as well as customers abroad. Many enterprises look to their communications providers for ways to integrate all subsidiaries onto the same global enterprise communications network, and to localize customer support services.

With an eye on that trend, Voxbone has inked partnerships with five of the world’s largest telcos – Orange Business Services (News - Alert), Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia Sparkle, NTT Communications and Telefónica. The company also expanded its coverage to reach the business-critical economies of South Korea, Turkey, Malaysia, and Colombia. Overall, Voxbone’s services are now available in more than 55 countries and 8,000 cities.

“This coverage expansion is important for Voxbone’s carrier customers, as well as the world’s leading cloud communications providers who rely on Voxbone, including 8x8 Inc., RingCentral, InContact, LiveOps, Skype (News - Alert), and many more,” the company said.

Itay Rosenfeld, CEO of Voxbone, added that expansion and WebRTC will continue to be major initiatives for the company in 2015. “While low-cost, low-quality providers have emerged, our strong growth figures underscore the importance of quality and regulatory compliance for enterprise communications,” he said. “In 2015, we will continue to expand our services, enabling enterprise cloud communications on a global scale, via the PSTN or through all-IP networks using WebRTC.”
