Since its inception over 30 years ago, Sangoma has risen to become a household name in the realm of IP telephony hardware and software. The company takes pride in being an industry pillar that continually reinvents itself to meet and exceed its customers’ chief needs, according to Sangoma Director of Marketing Kathleen Reed. In continuing the company’s evolutionary process, Sangoma recently acquired two companies, Schmooze (News - Alert) Communications, Inc., a developer of FreePBX, one of the world’s most widely used IP PBXs, and RockBochs, Inc., a fax-over-IP solutions provider.

Reed discussed the two acquisitions, which closed just this month, at Editor’s Day during ITEXPO (News - Alert) 2015, taking place now through January 30 in Miami, Florida.

“These acquisitions represent the next logical step to enhance our strategy,” Reed explained. The acquisitions, she said, were driven by the company’s continued mission to expand its existing product line and, subsequently, customer reach. By combining Schmooze’s renowned PBX (News - Alert) servers and appliances and RockBochs’ seamless, plug and play fax solutions with Sangoma’s gateway and session border controllers (SBCs), the organization is able to offer a more holistic and impactful product suite.

Meanwhile, the company will continue to cater to its customers’ existing preferences. “Those customers who really want to build their own PBX solutions can do so,” Reed explained. “We’re going to continue to support them; we’re not taking away any support from the community. We’re just enhancing and improving their ability to do so.”

Both Schmooze and RockBochs are long-standing partners with Sangoma, and so the integration of these two companies was a truly seamless experience. “It was just a matter of formalizing something that was already there,” Reed said.

Needless to say, 2015 is going to be a year of continued growth and innovation for Sangoma as the company diligently works to combine the many working units of its acquisitions to make operations as seamless and efficient as possible. “We’re bringing more products to market and we’re working to refine and strengthen those products to be more intuitive to our users’ needs,” said Reed. In 2015, Sangoma will continue to refine and improve its products to provide the utmost value to its loyal, newly expanded customer base.

In other news, Sangoma also made headlines this month after successfully completing interoperability testing with the BroadSoft (News - Alert) BroadWorks platform for SIP trunking services. This interoperability completion enables Sangoma to provide better quality of assurance and service to customers; minimize costs associated with ripping and replacing technology; provision more quickly and efficiently; and offer greater support and control. The company will continue working to achieve such valuable certifications over the course of 2015 to improve the customer experience, Reed said.
