Xorcom (News - Alert) is well known as a one-stop-shop for customer telephony offerings. The privately-held manufacturer of IP-PBX business telephony solutions offers products that are based on the Asterisk (News - Alert) open source platform and its TwinStar high availability solution offers hot failover for the entire PBX.
To offer even more advantages for users, the company announced today while at ITEXPO in Miami that it is releasing a new version, TwinStar II, available in March 2015, that has plug-and-play functionality so Digium (News - Alert) Asterisk Hardware Device Interface can be added and removed all while the IP-PBX stays operational.
Since there is no longer a requirement for Astribank, the new version is also being touted as a good option for pure IP environments.
“With this new version we have moved forward with the technology, addressing the needs of pure IP environments and supporting configurations with greater distances between the telephony systems. At the same time we kept and even improved our support in hybrid (PSTN + VoIP) systems using Astribank units in TwinStar configurations,” said Eran Gal, CEO and Co-founder of Xorcom.
With faster switchover to the backup system, TwinStar II can now also reduce downtime to an absolute minimum.
The company also launched CompleteSBC today at ITEXPO. This is a new optional software application that comes with Xorcom's CompletePBX IP-PBX (News - Alert) series and provides intrusion prevention by acting as a "SIP firewall" to solve interoperability problems.
XORCOM is at ITEXPO in Miami this week participating in sessions and is exhibiting at booth #406 where visitors can dial an extension with a PBX to trigger a freshly brewed cup of coffee. (see video below)
Xorcom CTO Leonid Fainshtein will also present today at 2:30 p.m. during a session titled, “Good Practices for Protection Against IP-PBX Security Threats,” to discuss the role of session border controllers today and practices that will help detect and prevent IP-PBX abuse.
