Whether it’s Silicon Valley or many of the tech hubs popping up around the world, funding plays a critical role in how far a new startup will go. No matter how great the idea, capital is essential to expose the product or service to a wider audience. Snom Technology AG, developer and manufacturer of IP telephones headquartered in Berlin, has announced it has received funding for the expansion of its technology from HeidelbergCapital.

Snom is not a new start up. The company was founded in 1996 and since that time has developed high quality business IP telephones with high security standards. As more organizations migrate from traditional phone services into hosted solutions, companies that manufacture the hardware designed to take advantage of digital technologies give businesses more communications options.

According to Snom, HeidelbergCapital is now the majority shareholder at the company, which looks to further its expansion.

“It was important to us to complement the current expansion course by obtaining extensive funding commitments. That is the reason for the capital increase. We want to support the future development of new products and modern software as well as drive international expansion at Snom,” said André Deloch, partner at HeidelbergCapital and Chairman of the Board at Snom.

The company was recognized by Microsoft (News - Alert) in September 2011 with the first and only SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) phones to achieve "Qualified for Microsoft Lync" status – for interoperability and compatibility with Microsoft Lync. The Snom 300 and 821 achieved this distinction after being fully tested by Microsoft. These phones provide plug-and-play integration and universal compatibility with standards-based SIP VoIP platforms, applications or services.

It has the largest family of standards-based business phones qualified for Microsoft Lync enterprise environments in the industry.

Additional features of Snom phones include:

  • Special installation options for single-user and small working groups plus mass configuration;
  • Supports HTTP and HTTPS;
  • Flexible phone status for incoming and outgoing calls, as well as PC-dialing via standard interfaces;
  • Simple installation and maintenance with basic and easy-use telephony functionality;
  • Compatible with MS TAPI 2.1 or higher (network solution);
  • MS TAPI 2.0 or higher for single-user solution;
  • Available in 32 and 64 bit versions; and
  • Recommended by leading system integrators and software developers.

Today’s business communication requires more than just voice solutions. With the integration of BYOD initiatives, remote workforce, collaboration and digitalization, the hardware that companies choose must be equal to the tasks that are essential in today’s ecosystem. The Snom phones have been recognized globally by communication solutions providers as well as system integrators and software developers. As the growth of UC, SIP and IP telephony continues to increase, Snom will be able to provide the right hardware.
