911 Emergency Telecom Company (911 ETC), has announced that CrisisConnect for VoIP is compliant with certain unified communications solutions from Avaya.

"As a DevConnect Technology Partner since 2003, 911 ETC (News - Alert) is committed to working with Avaya to help businesses establish and maintain E911 compliance," Bill Svien, 911 ETC’s vice president of corporate strategy, said. "With the increased capabilities that IP Office 9.0 offers organizations, this compliance testing is a key milestone toward accomplishing that end."

CrisisConnect connects a 911 call center’s incoming channels to the Public Safety Answering Point that’s local to the outgoing call. As the way people use their phones change, so has 911 service. E911 services include SMS, photos and videos as well as voice calls. E911 also includes accurate location information.

CrisisConnect ties many business VoIP systems to the outside 911 systems, making sure that people can get help in an emergency. While many businesses are still upgrading to VoIP, making sure users have access to 911 is important to the health and well-being of employees.

Avaya (News - Alert) tested CrisisConnect with its IP Office 9.0 and certified it for compatibility, as well as with Avaya Aura Communication Manager 6.0.1 using Avaya Aura Session Manager 6.1.

911 ETC is a Technology Partner with Avaya and is able to submit their products for interoperability testing. CrisisConnect is available in turn through Avaya’s DevConnect (News - Alert) Select Product Program.

Since 911 service is so crucial to saving lives, every piece of technology that 911 operators and other businesses rely on has to work reliably. Given that many call centers, not just 911 centers, use many different components, interoperability is essential. It also saves customers a lot of money, as they don’t have to replace every component in their system when they want to add new functionality. This shows the value of interoperability and partnership programs.
