Grandstream and PortaOne (News - Alert) have announced the interoperability of Grandstream’s IP telephony products with PortaOne’s PortaSwitch VoIP call control platform.

Grandstream solutions will allow PortaOne users to utilize all aspects of the PortaOne offering on easy-to-use devices that offer a variety of voice, video and mobility applications."

The announcement means that customers using a number of Grandstream devices can be sure that they will work with PortaSwitch.

The list of compatible devices includes the GXP2130, GXP2140 and GXP2160 phones with color screens, the Android (News - Alert)-powered GXV3240 phone, the GXP1400, GXP4105 and GXP1450 phones for small business and the DP715/DP710 cordless IP phone systems.

For businesses who connect to the outside world via an analog PSTN connection rather than SIP trunking, it also supports the Grandstream HT503 and HT702 analog telephone adapters.

The interoperability will help both Grandstream and PortaOne. PortaOne customers will feel more confident selecting Grandstream devices, and Grandstream owners can seriously consider using PortaSwitch. VoIP hardware is useless without good VoIP software to control it, and VoIP works best with handsets similar to the ones used for traditional telephony.

PortaOne realizes that flexibility is key when supporting devices, and the company has consciously chosen to support a wide range of Grandstream devices.
