Ingate Demos SIP Trunk Solutions at ITEXPO West 2008

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor

In a bid to simplify session initiation protocol (SIP) trunk deployments, Ingate Systems (News - Alert), is demonstrating a wide array of solutions and helpful resources for end users, resellers, distributors and systems integrators at the Internet Telephony Conference & Expo (ITEXPO (News - Alert)) West 2008.

Ingate develops firewall technology and products that enable SIP communications for the enterprise while maintaining control and security at the network edge. The company’s security products, the Ingate Firewall and Ingate SIParator, enable businesses to utilize SIP trunks in a secure manner.

In addition, these products also resolve interoperability issues between the Internet telephony service provider (ITSP), IP-private branch exchange (PBX (News - Alert)), and the enterprise itself.

Company officials said that Ingate SIP Trunking features advanced routing capabilities necessary for enterprises to connect to service providers' SIP trunks. It employs Ingate's proxy-based traversal and security technology.

Included with Ingate Firewall and SIParator is the company’s SIP Trunking Startup Tool which automatically configures a user's Ingate device to work with the SIP trunking service of their choice.

Officials said that the startup tool provides users with a drop-down menu listing IP-PBX vendors and ITSPs with which the Ingate Firewall or SIParator is interoperable. Additionally, users can choose which vendor or service provider they'd like to use and the configuration tool will automatically set itself to work with that vendor or service provider.

The company also offers Ingate Enhanced Security software module which features an intrusion detection system/intrusion prevention system (IDS/IPS) for SIP. This makes it possible to detect and protect against attacks based on the protocol.

Officials said that IDS/IPS protects the network against attacks targeting SIP devices on the LAN, such as SIP phones. Also, Ingate Enhanced Security works with Ingate's Firewalls and SIParators.

INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO — the biggest and most comprehensive IP communications event of the year — is going on this week (September 16-18, 2008) in Los Angeles, California! The show features three valuable days of exhibits, conferences, and networking opportunities you can’t afford to miss.
