Voice network equipment testing provider GL Communications (News - Alert) recently announced the latest update to its VQuad testing platform.

VQuad is able to automatically test up to eight devices simultaneously on a number of wired and mobile networks. Robert Bichefsky, a senior manager for product development at GL Communications, commented that the platform is able to complete a full range of tests on a voice network to ensure that it is performing as expected and desired. This includes all manner of IP-based tests as well as mobile messaging and email. In his statement, Bichefsky says the goal is to capture and test all communications going to and coming from a smartphone.

“GL's enhanced VQuad solution provides an automated method to test all types of data to and from the smartphone, confirming performance, quality, and reliability,” Bichefsky said. “With the introduction of GL's NetTest a variety of data tests can be performed directly from the mobile device and controlled remotely from the VQuad script. Tests include TCP, UDP (News - Alert), HTTP, VoIP, FTP, DNS, SMS, and email.”

Bichefsky was also vocal about the types of networks VQuad is able to handle. Networks include wireless VoLTE, LTE (News - Alert), 4G, and 3G, and wired broadband. The platform can also handle interfaces including FXO, Bluetooth, balanced, mobile, and push-to-talk.

One updated feature in the latest iteration of the VQuad product is support for video conference testing that uses an updated video application controller to complete manual and automated testing scripts. Furthermore, the updated WebViewer allows parties to view the results of all their mobile, landline, audio, and video tests in a central location. The company insists that the WebViewer can become a one-stop shop for network analysis by having the ability to monitor all network nodes handled within VQuad. The entire network is shown in a central dashboard, and that dashboard's integration with Google (News - Alert) Maps can give viewers a visual look at where tests begin, where they end, and if they pass or fail.
