MagicJack has long been ahead of the times when it comes to making and receiving calls over the Internet. Despite the fact that the company’s founder and former CEO recently passed on, the company is still going strong. MagicJack is looking to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to cloud-based communications and has attempted to do this with the launch of the magicApp Premium for iOS.

This particular application will allow users to transform any iOS Wi-Fi or 4G-enabled device into a mobile phone. As is usual with this particular company, the magicApp does not seem to cost too much money, with just a $1.99 per month charge. The application offers a U.S. number as well as unlimited local and long distance calling to the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

The application will allow for customers to use MagicApp as a personal or business mobile voice service on their iPhone (News - Alert), iPad, iPod and as an additional line on a users’ iPhone. “Since 2007, magicJack has been a disruptive force in the home and business calling market,” said Gerald Vento, CEO of magicJack VocalTec (News - Alert) in a recent statement. “With magicApp Premium for iOS, we take our first step in bringing a similar disruption to mobile allowing consumers to transform any Wi-Fi or 4G-enabled iOS device into a mobile phone with a US number and unlimited talk and text for only $1.99 per month.”

The aim behind this particular application mirrors what the original magicJack was geared to do. Those who are cost conscious can now have a new way to make calls without being tethered a carrier that will cost them an arm and a leg. Those who already use their iPhone for calling can now basically have a second line for quite a bit cheaper than if they got that second line through their carrier.
