Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) trunking simplifies the connection of a private branch exchange (PBX) to the Internet by essentially replacing the conventional telephone trunk. The ability to use the Internet for telephony services has resulted in new communications offerings that are allowing organizations to access a wide range of solutions at affordable price points. With mobile technology, remote working and collaboration now becoming part of the workforce, IP telephony has become an indispensable tool. Unicoi Systems, provider of Voice over IP (VoIP), Voice and Video over IP (V2IP), and networking software solutions to the embedded device market, has announced the addition of new capabilities and functionalities to its Fusion Voice Engine platform.

Since it was founded in 2000, Unicoi Systems has amassed an impressive list of customers which includes more than 500 leading providers of real-time voice, video and data software and reference designs to embedded device developers and OEMs around the world. This includes Siemens, Raytheon (News - Alert), Cisco, Canon, HP, Sony, Philips, IBM, Northrop Grumman, Motorola, Ericsson, Sharp, Nokia and many others.

Unicoi’s proven software and reference design solutions lets customers build scalable, reliable and high-performance solutions for the consumer electronics, VoIP telephony, in-vehicle/in-flight infotainment, medical instrumentation, defense & aerospace, and industrial controls industries.

The Fusion Voice Engine is designed to let users easily integrate and build complex voice processing technology into their product line without the technological hurdles as well as inefficiencies of other solutions. This platform is optimized for high performance on almost all platforms. Application developers, service providers and device manufacturers can eliminate delay, jitter, packet loss, background noise and echo to deliver industry-leading voice quality to their communication solutions.

The new additions to the Fusion Voice Engine is going to give the company the ability to deliver a higher quality of IP communications. This includes:

  • Audio Statistics for multicast channels,
  • Improved audio driver for iOS and OSX for better support of hardware-based AEC and AGC,
  • Support for SILK Wideband,
  • New APIs to set the level of DTMF tones generated on a channels TX/Speaker path while the channel is running, and
  • New APIs to handle select encoder configuration settings before a channel has been started.

The Fusion Embedded Software have three distinct offerings:

A complete line of embedded network protocols: TCP/IPv4/IPv6, DHCP Client & Server, DNS Resolver, FTP, HTTP, IGMP, NAT, PPP, POP3, PPPoE, RIP, SMTP, SNMP, SNTP, and Telnet Server.

A complete solution for securing embedded applications with, IPsec, IKE, HTTPS Client & Server, SSL/TLS, SIPS, SRTP.

Voice and video protocols for delivering real-time protocols for IP media devices such as SIP/SIPS, RTP/SRTP, RTSP Client & Server, STUN.

“Not only is the Fusion Voice Engine available for standalone use in custom VoIP related audio applications, we have also incorporated it into the latest versions of our InstaVoIP and InstaV2IP product families, providing our customers with added functionality in their multimedia applications that demand a low latency solution.” said Greg Coonley, CEO and founder of Unicoi Systems.

The design solutions that Unicoi Systems provides has been proven across a wide range of industries by multinational organizations with far-reaching and complex communications needs. The software and reference design solutions of its platforms make it possible to build scalable, reliable and high-performance solutions that can adapt to today’s rapidly evolving environment.
