While there are a number of places in the world that are having some issues getting ready when it comes to UC adoption, Unify, a leading company that deals with communications software and services has dubbed Scottsdale, Arizona a New Way To Work Global Ambassador. The company points to Scottsdale streamlining its communications using OpenScape VoIP solutions. This move alone now serves more than 1,800 employees across a wide range of city offices.

Unify (News - Alert) hasn’t been operating the New Way To Work (NW2W) program all that long but it already appears to be a success in this Arizona town. The program is geared toward prioritizing new strategies for communications and collaboration. In the end the main goal is to find a way to navigate the changing tech business landscape.

“As the City of Scottsdale serves the public, Unify serves us. With One Number Service  and mobility at the forefront of our government-wide communications strategy, OpenScape’s self-service tools have lightened the workload for centralized support teams,” Shannon Tolle, IT Communications Director with the City of Scottsdale, Arizona said in a recent release. “Before, employees had to call IT to arrange for a bridge or portal. Now employees are launching virtual meetings on their own. This is part of what makes the OpenScape platform scalable to a large user base and helps our employees do their work with ease.”

The city says that using OpenScape has seen a massive increase in operational efficiency because users are more easily able to cooperate and coordinate with coworkers. These users are also able to communicate with the public at large more easily with this particular platform. Scottsdale has been transitioning to a “City Desk Top Anywhere” approach while also adopting a more mobile look and feel. This means that city employees are able to work from home or on the go, and they can use any device they choose. The UC tech adds the ability to communicate as though they are at the office while accessing needed info from those locations.
