Depending on which demographic you poll, mobile is the primary access device for personal Internet usage, but more and more it is proving to be true across all segments. As wireless broadband deployments continue to increase with 4G/LTE (News - Alert), and smartphones become more powerful, mobile is overtaking all other computing devices. The result has been a market that is pushing companies to introduce innovative services designed to harness the capabilities of current mobile technology. One such innovation has been recognized with the 2015 INTERNET TELEPHONY TMC (News - Alert) Labs Innovation Award for its VirtualPBX Softphone App.

Established in 1997, VirtualPBX was the brainchild of the creators of the original Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) software in San Francisco. The company has been continually evolving by producing timely innovations adapting the latest technology in the market place with IP telephony. The recognition TMC gave the company is for its VirtualPBX Softphone App, a solution that practically turns any computing and smart mobile device into a fully-featured VoIP PBX (News - Alert) softphone.

The INTERNET TELEPHONY TMC Labs Innovation Award was created with the goal of recognizing products that are noteworthy, innovative, have unique features and display groundbreaking contributions to improve communications technologies.

“The INTERNET TELEPHONY TMC Labs Innovation Award represents the best and the most unique products and services that this industry has to offer. VirtualPBX has proven their commitment to quality and the further development of the IP communications industry through its VirtualPBX Softphone App,” stated Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO, TMC. “Congratulations to the entire team at VirtualPBX for earning this great honor. I look forward to seeing more innovative solutions from them as they continue to contribute to the future of IP communications,” Tehrani added.

To start accessing the feature-rich VoIP extension the app provides, all you have to do is download it to your device from iTunes App Store and Google (News - Alert) Play for free. Once it is in your device, it can start receiving calls dialed to a business number and extension. And employees working in the field can make outgoing calls while making it look as if it is originating from the office. Using the company’s VoIP Anywhere technology, any computing device that has the app becomes a full-featured VirtualPBX VoIP phone.

Additional features of the VirtualPBX Softphone App include:

  • VirtualPBX business telephone systems are included with every call, including call recording, centralized voicemail, direct extension dialing and more,
  • Outbound calls will use your business Caller ID, not your personal number,
  • Save on roaming charges by making calls through your VirtualPBX system,
  • Personal calls coming into the mobile device are not interrupted. and prompts with tones or announcements can be created to alert callers so they can be put on hold, and
  • Turns your computer or device into a VoIP extension.

“We’re in the business of helping professionals work the way they want to. So it only makes sense to mirror the convenience and flexibility of a mobile platform as part of our unified communications solutions for business,” said Lon Baker, VirtualPBX COO.

By recognizing the VirtualPBX Softphone App, TMC introduces the technology to a wider audience. This gives businesses and individual consumers the confidence to try a new product knowing it has been awarded for the innovative solutions it provides by a company established more than four decades ago.
