Olea Announces ezLINC IP PBX

Olea Networks has announced ezLINC, what it says is the latest generation of its IP PBX (News - Alert) for local and long distance communications solutions.


ezLINC allows employees to use phones, push-to-talk, voice and video to get in touch with each other over a local network without an external connection. With an Internet connection, they can get in touch with almost anyone in the world.

While cloud PBX systems are becoming popular because they promise to save companies money, Olea claims that customers will save much more by sticking with an on-premises solution.

“By routing local calls through an Olea LINCWorks device instead of through the Cloud—as most PBX systems do—organizations can share voice and data without incurring hefty fees associated with running everything over cellular, satellite or hardwired connections,” a company statement said. “Additionally, the ability to reach any employee through the Olea LINCWorks devices speeds up information exchange to provide actionable intelligence for better business decisions.”

ezLINC runs on Olea LINCWorks devices. As with other PBX systems, devices can be assigned specific phone numbers that people outside an organization can use to call in.

Olea touts the solution to industries such as oil and gas and construction where employees need to get in touch with management quickly if there’s a problem. An oil spill or the collapse of a building not only costs money, but threatens lives and property.

At the same time, many businesses are moving to cloud infrastructure because it allows them to save money on capital expenditures for servers while getting up and running quickly. On-premises solutions will have a place for applications that demand privacy, security and reliability, though cloud providers promise that they can deliver these things too.

Olea is also no slouch in emerging technologies. Earlier this year, it announced a series of fog computing gateways for remote job sites.
