The evolution of communications technologies now makes it possible for two or more individuals to connect with each other using voice, text and video from virtually anywhere. This type of accessibility has introduced new levels of efficiency in which businesses operate and collaborate with their partners, employees and customers around the world. A technology making this possible is cloud computing, and as more companies use this platform to deliver communication solutions, the limitations of geography and time will be a thing of the past.

One of the companies providing comprehensive and scalable cloud communications solutions was just recognized by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) as a Top 10 Provider for user based market share in its North American Hosted Telephony and UCC service market report.

According to Star2Star, it was the only vendor to provide a full suite of telecom services, including dial tone and DIDs in the report.

“As we enter our tenth year in business, it is gratifying to see our progress against companies many times our size”, said Norman Worthington, CEO of Star2Star. “We knew from the outset that we had better technology and a better business model, and this report is validation of both,” he continued.

Star2Star prides itself on delivering 99.999 percent reliability, but the company has gone a step further by achieving 100 percent network uptime since 2011. This has resulted in installations of tens of thousands of businesses with a customer retention rate of 99.85 percent, which according to the company is the highest of any provider in the industry.

The cloud-based services the company provides is in data centers with servers for cloud-based voice mail, audio conferencing, auto-attendants, and a wide swath other system features.

In addition to highlighting the technology of Star2Star, the report also pointed out the current trends driving the UC market place. Some of the trends are: most IP telephony providers now allow their customers to rent or lease phones, moving from a CAPEX to an all-OPEX (News - Alert) business model; the majority of business customers still prefer desktop phones for most of their users, due to the high reliability and familiar operation of desktop phones; and hybrid architecture solutions (which combine cloud telephony with a reliable, premise-based edge device) are gaining popularity with buyers, and this trend is likely to continue.
