Mitel (News - Alert) has announced that Gartner has once again recognized its unified communications solution in its Magic Quadrant report.

"Our mission is to provide our customers with the most seamless and intelligent pathway and tools to communicate with their clients, partners and colleagues," Mitel president and CEO Rich McBee said. "Consistently being recognized by Gartner (News - Alert) as a leader in helping companies communicate smarter and more effectively is a reflection of the trust we strive to earn across more than two billion business connections every business day."

Gartner has placed the company as a “Leader” in its Magic Quadrant for the second year in a row. It’s also the second in four months where the research firm has designated Mitel as a leader. In May, Gartner proclaimed Mitel a leader in UC in North America. With the latest report, Mitel reaffirms its status as a worldwide leader.

The report said that UC solutions were being offered in conjunction with collaboration solutions, leading to the term “Unified Communications (News - Alert) and Collaboration,” or UC&C. While Mitel is best known as a maker of phones, the latest report shows how strong its offering is in both on-premises and cloud UC&C.

Perhaps the best testament comes from Mitel’s own customers, especially in the fast-paced world of healthcare.

"Mitel has given us the ability to have low-cost intercom calling with our various locations so we are always in touch and on the same page. Mitel also allows a smooth transition of telephone services for our afterhours Triage Nurse Call Center and key features such as time-based call routing and call reporting for statistical data are helpful for our IT help desk staff," said Katie Goutoufas, support center manager for Temple Terrace, Fla.-based Chapters Health System.

TMC (News - Alert) Labs gave UniVoip, which uses Mitel hardware, an Innovation Award in July.
