Dialogic (News - Alert) is a communications technology company that provides telecom infrastructure products and solutions to service providers and enterprise. Among others, Dialogic’s products include media servers, gateways, softswitches, session border controllers and bandwidth optimization solutions.

The global networking software and infrastructure solution provider has been selected to replace an end-of-life Cisco (News - Alert) PGW 2200 Softswitch. ADG LDI (PVT) LTD formerly DVCOM-LDI (PVT) LTD is Pakistan’s premier licensed long distance and international (LDI) provider. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has awarded the License of LDI (Long Distance & International) to ADG LDI Pvt. Ltd.

It would appear that rather than upgrade the Cisco softswitch system currently in place, ADG LDI has decided to make the switch to the Dialogic ControlSwitch System softswitch, and Dialogic I-Gate 4000 EDGE Media Gateways to support its domestic and international interconnection voice transport services.

According to senior vice president of marketing and product management at Dialogic, Jim Machi, “Dialogic’s ControlSwitch System and I-Gate 4000 EDGE Media Gateways are open platforms that enable service providers looking to replace their end-of-life infrastructure with a cost-effective and supported solution that can help effectively manage CAPEX and OPEX (News - Alert) as they transition to next generation IP and IMS networks. We’re excited to help ADG LDI transition to the latest technology to continue to offer its international and domestic customers high quality and highly reliable wholesale services.”

Time-division multiplexing (TDM) is a method of transmitting and receiving independent signals over a common signal path by means of synchronized switches at each end of the transmission line so that each signal appears on the line in only a fraction of time in an alternating pattern.

To show how as much as technology changes, it basically stays the same, this form of signal multiplexing was developed in telecommunications for telegraphy systems in the late 1800s, it has endured and found its most common application in digital telephony in the second half of the 20th century.

Dialogic’s ControlSwitch System and I-Gate 4000 EDGE Media Gateways provide ADG LDI with a scalable solution to handle the millions of minutes of TDM and IP voice traffic that it’s delivering to its customers each day.

The following comments were made by Muhammad Usman Hassan, ADG’s COO, “We selected Dialogic because its products and services will allow us to replace our legacy Cisco switching technology with minimal network disruption, and seamless interworking with our deployed base of Cisco AS5400XM Universal Gateways. We were impressed with Dialogic’s solid track record, its depth of experience with replacing legacy switching technology and the level of support it provides; and we look forward to both CAPEX and OPEX savings that will help us stay competitive and continue to offer high quality voice interconnect solutions to our customers.”
