VoIP solution provider Voxvalley is best known for delivering VoIP solutions for carriers and telecoms across the globe. The Singapore-based company’s customized mobile and business VoIP software solutions have been awarded Communications Solutions Product of the Year by TMC and continue to see growth.
At ITEXPO in Anaheim Calif., last month, TMC’s Diana Bishop interviewed Voxvalleys director of Sales in the U.S., Mike Storella to find out more about the company and what they are seeing as trends in the industry.
Mike noted that the undeniable focus is on Mobility in today’s market with the IP phone and desktop softclient.
“I still believe the IP desk phone has a role to play but im finding that the role is diminishing more and more as the smartphone takeover. I am finding in many cases the younger generation is using their smart phone to conduct business and I think were seeing the waning days of the business desk phone.”
According to Mike, the original idea of the IP desk phone was to have a plethora of capped applications that would be confined to your phone on your desk. To certain extent, he said, that has not happened - and really the smartphone has stolen all the thunder and apps are now all on our smartphones.
I think were going to see BYOD become the hottest topic in the next five years and this will lead to corporations and enterprises saying, “How do I reign in my employees to use my communications system?” The way it’s going to happen, Mike said, is mobility – with IP Phone apps.
So there will be an app that runs a SIP Client -for the user it will just be another app they download - and they will then have an extension off the corporate phone system, for example, and be able to use it to work.
