Windstream (News - Alert), a provider of voice and data communications and managed services to businesses in the United States, is making a change at the executive level. According to the company’s chief executive officer (CEO) Tony Thomas, Sarah Day has been appointed as president of Consumer and Small Business (C/SMB). The appointment goes into effect as of January 1, 2016.

"I have great confidence in Sarah," said Thomas. "She has a tremendous wealth of experience as a strategic leader and is delivering high-quality products to our customers."

Windstream, which recently began making the push toward over one million session initiation protocol (SIP) trunk lines throughout the lower 48 United States with the help of BroadSoft (News - Alert), is a Platinum Sponsor of ITEXPO, set to take place January 25-28, 2016, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The only event dedicated to communications solutions for the enterprise mid-market, resellers and services providers, ITEXPO (News - Alert) will feature exhibits and speakers covering every facet of the communications space today.

Ahead of ITEXPO, Day will shift toward her new role, where she will be responsible for leading, managing and developing the short- and long-term strategies of the C/SMB unit. Since joining Windstream in 2008, Day has acted as senior vice president of C/SMB Marketing and Customer Care. Over the past six months, she served as interim president of C/SMB, making her the natural choice to take on the role full time.

"I'm very excited to take on this challenge of leading the consumer and small business division of Windstream," said Day. "This team has a proven track record, and we have a clear strategy and plan in place to continue our success."

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Cultural Anthropology, Day received a Master’s of Business Administration from Wake Forest University’s Babcock Graduate School of Management.
